Why do we have to ask for donatations?Although Sweden is quite an easy-going country for organizing an event like this, finding a venue that fits our many specific criteria (large space suitable for camping, low risk of bothering neighbors, electricity, running water, toilets, ideally close to some body of water etc.) is unfortunately not free in Sweden. Luckily, we found a venue with a fixed price, meaning it will not vary with the number of signed up ambassadors.
In addition, the organizers will have some additional minor expenses in order to ensure a safe and well-organized event, including but not limited to: gas money for study visits to the site, first-aid material, trash bags, toilet paper, website domain etc. Whatever money is left over after that will all go right back into the event – making it as awesome as can be! How much should I donate? We understand that everyone’s financial situation looks different. This is why Project X has never had a mandatory registration fee in place, but has instead operated through a voluntary donation system.
Everyone can give according to what feels right for their individual situation – and no matter if you donate or not, all YFUers are welcome at PX! We have, nevertheless, set a recommended donation amount to €30 per person. The absolute minimum to cover our costs for the venue and bare essentials would be €22 per person – assuming we would reach 100 participants – but we assume some people will donate less. You can afford to donate a bit more? Great! Your generous donation will hopefully make the event more accessible to others who already might need to travel far to even make it to the event! :) |
The donations are sent by Paypal through the link above. If you don't already have one, you'll have to set up a new Paypal account. If this payment alternative for some reason is not possible for you, let our resident Treasurer Viking Anton know at [email protected] and we'll try to accommodate some other solution!
